WHAT IS PROP 36
Prop. 36 is a piece of California legislation that passed in November 2000 that requires convicted non-violent drug offenders to be placed in treatment as a condition of probation, as opposed to incarceration. The law also applies to state parolees who are convicted of new non-violent drug offenses or parole violations. CASC assesses the substance abuse problems of these offenders and refers them to treatment.

HOP MILAGRO PROGRAM
The Milagro Program provides culturally competent outpatient treatment to the Latino population in South L.A.  Participants are referred to us in conjunction with Prop. 39. the program motivates and reinforces a drug free family environment.

PROBATION
The Dept. of Probation has one Deputy Probation Officer (DPO) onsite at CASC to help Prop. 36 clients be successful in the treatment process. The DPO conduct weekly probation orientations in order to familiarize Prop. 36 clients with what is required and expected of them. The DPO is also available to answer questions and address probation related issues with Prop. 36 clients and assessment specialist.

CALWORKs, DCFS, & GR REFERRING AGENCIES

· CALWORKs GAIN Substance Abuse: Exposition Park District Office 12
· DCFS Substance Abuse, Mental Health & Family Court
· General Relief District Offices 8 & 27 or substance dependence (co-occurring disorders/COD). Services include mental health assessments,  individual and group therapy, substance abuse treatment, group rehabilitation, case management, linkage and other adjunctive services that will facilitate rehabilitation and recovery.
