COVID-19

During this time of crisis due to the Coronavirus SSG/HOPICS is equally committed to both 1) keeping our team members and guests safe, and 2) maintaining essential services for the vulnerable men, women and children that rely on us as a part of the Safety Net.  Accordingly, as new and expanded guidance continues to be released from government officials about practicing social distancing and isolation HOPICS is quickly working to actively move the majority of our workforce to work remotely.

 
Safety Measures and Staff Support taken by SSG/HOPICS
  • Safety Screenings and Temperature at all HOPICS sites

  • Reassignment of workstations and office flow to practice physical distancing

  • Limited Number of Guests in the Lobby to practice physical distancing

  • Providing a steady supply of PPE to all employees

  • Additional contracted support for more frequent cleaning at HOPICS sites

  • Forty percent of HOPICS Team members working remotely 4-5 days per week to reduce the number of people in the office to practice physical distancing

  • Bi-Monthly COVID-19 Viral testing required for all staff as a preventative measure

  • Short term (up to 14 day) lodging for employees who may have been exposed and have high risk folks in their household

  • Premium Pay for HOPICS Essential Workers

  • Consultation with infectious disease doctor weekly

  • Monthly COVID-19 Viral testing required for all clients in interim housing  as a preventative measure

  • Operation of SPA 6 Project Roomkey (PRK) sites

    • PRK South LA with 69 rooms

    • PRK Compton with 36 rooms

  • Operation of COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance for moderate income households for Supervisor District Two

  • Substance Use Disorder Services at PRK sites

  • SSI Benefits Support at PRK sites

  • Targeted Outreach for high risk continues

  • Street based testing at SPA 6 Encampments

  • Creation of Helpline and Distribution Center for HOPICS Clients

  • Delivering 300 meals to unsheltered daily

  • Straight Talk weekly sessions about COVID-19 for HOPICS Clients

  • Host site for World Central Kitchen for SPA 6 food distribution of 4000 meals weekly

Providing Safe and Clean Places for more than 2,000 People who are Homeless to Temporarily Live. Our Interim Housing portfolio includes: Site Based Crisis Housing, Bridge Housing and Enhanced Bridge Housing; Motels; Safe Parking; Safe Landing; and Recovery Bridge Housing.

  • 24 Hour Onsite Staff

  • Safe and Clean Sleeping Quarters

  • Three Meals Per Day for 24-Hour Site Based Crisis/Bridge and Safe Landing Locations

  • Pet Support

  • Ongoing Case Management Support

Eviction Prevention

Providing Relief and Support to Eligible Individuals and Families who are at Imminent Risk of Becoming Unstably Housed
